Siegwerk GCC Expansion: ₹350 Cr for Innovation & Growth

Siegwerk has announced a ₹350 crore investment to expand its Global Innovation and Capability Centre (GICC) and manufacturing footprint in India over the next three years. The plan includes automating its Pune blending facility, building a national distribution hub in Tauru, and strengthening a network of 14 Colour Matching Centres to serve packaging clients faster.

The German ink major is focusing heavily on sustainable, mineral oil–free and water-based inks, in line with global demand for safer packaging. The GICC, which already drives digital transformation and product innovation for Siegwerk worldwide, will see deeper investments in AI-based formulation, automation, and workforce upskilling.

With this expansion, the company is targeting annual growth of 8–10% in India, a key market for its global innovation strategy. Competitors in the packaging ink industry are also doubling down on sustainability, but Siegwerk’s early bet on India could turn the country into a hub for next-gen packaging solutions. Will this move help Siegwerk secure leadership in sustainable inks?
